Twitter comes to Kymbrook

Twitter logo You can now follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/kymbrook). For those of you how aren't familiar with Twitter, it's a beautifully simple use of the web that enables us to broadcast messages to any of our parents or carers that want to listen to them. Each broadcast is very short (only 140 characters at most) and so they are, by their nature, kept to the crux of the matter. You can receive the 'tweeps' (as the individual broadcasts are called) in your web browser, on your desktop or even on your mobile phone. It's rather like phone text messages for the Internet but instead of us having to know the numbers of each phone we want to send a text to, we just broadcast and anyone who wants to listen, simply chooses to follow us. All you need to do is to click on the "follow" button on our Twitter link at the bottom right of the page and you can sign-up for a completely free account to receive our broadcasts. Twitter has become a massive phenomina with notable Tweeters including Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Barack Obama. Radio 2's Simon Mayo even asked his listeners to request songs via Twitter when he recently stood in for Chris Evans. If you want to find out more why not read the BBC's Click programme's view of Twitter.

Initially, we'll be using Twitter to broadcast reminders about events or key messages about things at school but if you have a brilliant idea about how we could use it in or around school, please let us know (email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
